Before approaching a single candidate for Lépine Talent, Daniel spent years on the other side of the mirror.
Biography
Before founding Lépine Talent, Daniel spent several years in strategic marketing, business development, and talent acquisition roles inside law firms. That experience gave him more than a feel for the different profiles that make up a firm. It gave him a working understanding of the business realities behind a practice: client development, positioning, profitability, internal relationships, and growth potential.
For Daniel, recruiting an experienced lawyer or a partner is never just a matter of matching a résumé to an opening. A move between firms usually means a client base built over years, active files, trusted relationships, and a practice whose portability has to be thought through carefully.
That’s where his business development background really pays off. Daniel works through the client-migration question with his candidates: which relationships are genuinely transferable, what the real potential of a book of business is, how to prepare the approach, and how to structure the transition so client relationships carry through intact. His read on the different players in the market also lets him anticipate the realities on both sides: the firm being left and the one looking to bring the practice in.
This grasp of the market and the business side takes him well beyond traditional headhunting. Daniel advises as much on where to build a career as on how to move a practice there, and grow it once it lands.
