Our client, a leading international law firm, is seeking to recruit an associate to support the growth of its financing practice in its Montreal office. This opportunity is intended for a professional wishing to develop expertise in sophisticated transactions within a team recognized for excellence.

The firm represents financial institutions, investment funds and multinational corporations in complex financing transactions, both domestic and cross-border.

Role

You will actively participate in the structuring and implementation of a wide range of financing transactions under the supervision of experienced lawyers, with increasing autonomy. The role offers direct exposure to major mandates and top-tier clients.

Responsibilities

• Participate in secured and unsecured commercial financing transactions
• Work on syndicated financings, acquisition financings and asset-based financings
• Draft and review credit agreements, security documents and legal opinions
• Conduct due diligence and transactional analyses
• Coordinate certain stages of the financing process, including conditions precedent and closing
• Collaborate with multi-jurisdictional and multidisciplinary teams
• Maintain direct contact with clients and external stakeholders

Requirements

• Member in good standing of the Barreau du Québec
• 2 to 3 years of relevant experience in business law, ideally in financing
• Experience gained at a top-tier firm (strong asset)
• Strong understanding of commercial financing structures
• Excellent analytical, drafting and transactional management skills
• Ability to thrive in a demanding, fast-paced environment
• Team-oriented with a client-focused approach
• Bilingual (French/English)
