Our client, a national business law firm recognized for the excellence of its professional standards, is seeking a lawyer to join its Montréal-based team specializing in pension plans and employee benefits.

Role

You will join a respected multidisciplinary team and be involved in matters including:

• Due diligence reviews of pension and employee benefit plans in the context of transactions
• Reviewing pension and employee benefit provisions in transactional documents
• Designing, drafting, amending, and administering pension and employee benefit plans
  • Governance and regulatory compliance
  • Issues related to mergers and acquisitions, restructurings, and insolvency situations
• Matters relating to annuity purchases
  • Domestic and cross-border structuring and tax considerations of plans
  • Executive compensation and incentive arrangements
  • Asset transfers, trust agreements, and investment management agreements

You will advise a client base composed of employers, financial institutions, and plan administrators, both on day-to-day operational matters and in the context of complex strategic transactions.

Requirements

• Member of the Quebec Bar
• 2 to 6 years of relevant experience in pension plans, employee benefits, or related tax matters
• Experience gained in private practice or within a sophisticated corporate environment
• Strong analytical skills and technical rigor
• Bilingualism
