As part of the expansion of its Montreal practice, a national business law firm is seeking to welcome a Partner in Labour and Employment Law. The firm advises a corporate, institutional and entrepreneurial client base on strategic matters related to labour relations, regulatory compliance and risk management.

The Role

As a Labour and Employment Partner, you will be involved in complex mandates in both advisory and litigation matters, while actively contributing to the growth of the group. You will act as a strategic advisor to employers in a variety of contexts involving significant human, operational and financial considerations.

The role includes a strong entrepreneurial component, including business development, client relationship management and contributing to the strategic direction of the practice.

Responsibilities

• Advise and represent employers in labour and employment law matters
• Handle litigation matters, including grievance arbitrations, complaints and contractual disputes
• Support clients in sensitive situations, including internal investigations, disciplinary measures and restructurings
• Draft and review policies, employment agreements and strategic documentation
• Represent clients before administrative tribunals and courts
• Develop and implement legal strategies aligned with clients’ business objectives
• Maintain and grow a client portfolio
• Mentor and develop team members
• Collaborate with other practice groups at a national level
• Contribute actively to the firm’s visibility and market positioning

Requirements

• Member in good standing of the Québec Bar
• Recognized expertise in labour and employment law
• Established client portfolio or demonstrated ability to develop a practice
• Significant experience in both advisory and litigation matters
• Excellent advocacy, negotiation and strategic skills
• Demonstrated leadership and ability to develop and manage a team
• Sound judgment, strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize effectively
• Strong communication and client relationship skills
• Bilingual (French/English)
