A business law firm is seeking a Senior Litigation Paralegal to join its Montreal office. The firm represents major corporations, financial institutions and Canadian and international organizations in complex commercial disputes and high-profile litigation matters.

The Role

As a Senior Litigation Paralegal, you will play a key role in managing litigation files by supporting lawyers throughout every stage of the legal process.

You will actively participate in the preparation of hearings, examinations, trials, document management and strategic file coordination while working closely with various teams across the firm.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review and file court documents and pleadings
  • Prepare books of authorities, books of exhibits and other hearing materials
  • Assist with examinations for discovery, mediations, hearings and trials
  • Draft legal correspondence, lists of documents, affidavits, undertakings charts and transcript summaries
  • Conduct legal and case law research using SOQUIJ and other legal research platforms
  • Conduct searches and filings with public registries, including the Quebec Enterprise Registrar, Land Registry and RDPRM
  • Manage litigation files, document organization and critical deadlines
  • Work closely with lawyers, clients and external stakeholders
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of litigation processes and best practices
  • Monitor procedural developments and legislative changes affecting litigation practice

Requirements

  • Diploma in Paralegal Technology or equivalent education
  • 8 to 10 years of relevant litigation experience
  • Experience gained in a law firm or comparable professional environment
  • Strong knowledge of Quebec court procedures
  • Experience supporting complex litigation matters
  • Proficiency with public registry searches and legal research tools
  • Experience with class actions, complex commercial litigation or regulatory investigations (asset)
  • Knowledge of Relativity or other litigation support software (asset)
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • Strong attention to detail, sound judgment and ability to work independently
  • Fully bilingual in French and English, both spoken and written
