Our client, a leading law firm, is looking to welcome a lawyer specializing in tax litigation to strengthen its team. The successful candidate will be involved in complex tax disputes, including audits, objections, negotiations with tax authorities, and representations before the courts.

Key Responsibilities

• Advise businesses and individuals in complex tax disputes
• Assist clients at all stages of a tax litigation matter, from the audit stage through judicial proceedings
• Represent clients in objections, negotiations, and appeals before tax authorities and the courts
• Develop strategies tailored to the tax, legal, and commercial issues specific to each matter
• Participate in matters involving, among other things, transfer pricing, tax credits, indirect taxes, and international taxation
• Draft court proceedings, legal opinions, and representations to tax authorities
• Negotiate with tax authorities to facilitate the resolution of disputes where possible
• Collaborate with other professionals within the firm on matters requiring multidisciplinary expertise
• Develop and maintain trusted relationships with clients
• Contribute to the development and visibility of the practice

Ideal Profile

• Member of the Quebec Bar
• 8 to 10 years of relevant experience in tax law, particularly in tax planning, reorganizations, and the implementation of corporate structures
• Experience in dealing and negotiating with tax authorities
• Strong analytical and drafting skills (tax memoranda, opinions, transaction summaries)
• High level of autonomy, sound judgment, rigor, and the ability to manage multiple strategic matters in parallel
• Ability to clearly explain complex tax concepts and interact effectively with various stakeholders (clients, accountants, internal and external counsel)
