A growing business law firm is seeking a lawyer to join its Construction Law team. The firm advises contractors, developers, subcontractors, professionals and businesses on construction projects, contractual disputes and strategic matters with significant commercial impact.

The Role

As a Construction Law Lawyer, you will work on a broad range of matters involving both contractual and litigation aspects of construction projects. You will be actively involved in the strategic management of files, with direct exposure to clients and the operational and financial issues surrounding mandates.

The role is ideal for a professional who enjoys technical files, fast-paced environments and mandates requiring a practical, solution-oriented approach.

Responsibilities

• Advise contractors, developers and businesses on construction law matters
• Handle litigation matters involving construction disputes and contractual liability
• Draft and revise construction contracts, subcontracting agreements and related documentation
• Participate in claims involving construction defects, delays, deficiencies and disputes
• Lead files involving legal hypothecs and recovery proceedings
• Develop strategies tailored to technical and commercial project issues
• Participate in negotiations, mediations and dispute resolution processes
• Represent clients before the courts when required
• Collaborate with experts, consultants and industry stakeholders
• Maintain direct client relationships and contribute to the growth of the practice

Requirements

• Member in good standing of the Québec Bar
• Relevant experience in construction law
• Private practice experience (strong asset)
• Strong understanding of contractual and technical construction issues
• Strong legal drafting, negotiation and strategic skills
• Ability to manage files autonomously
• Judgment, rigor and strong prioritization skills
• Practical and solution-oriented mindset
• Strong interpersonal and client-service skills
• Bilingualism in French and English (asset)
